Commonly called, plantar fasciitis or heel spur syndrome.
Have you been suffering with arch or heel pain? Limping out of bed in the morning? Is your foot just not getting better? At Brindabella Podiatry Canberra, we treat arch and heel pain daily. It is important to have the correct diagnosis for your pain as it may be one of many problems. A weakness in the plantar fascia, a heel spur fracture, bursitis, a nerve impingement, fat pad inflammation or muscle/tendon overuse. It may also be a combination of the above.
Heel pain generally presents with the patient having pain first thing in the morning and after rest. It is important to treat heel pain early rather than letting it ‘run its course’ as people often develop a number of other injuries from altering their gait to avoid the painful heel. Early intervention = quicker recovery.
Our treatment will focus on the true cause of your foot pain, that is, the repeat straining which happens with every step you take. We will perform a thorough biomechanical assessment to diagnose your pain and implement a management plan to get you pain free and back to normal life.
We use different interventions for each patient. These include orthotics, straps and plantar fascia socks, Shock Wave Therapy, InterX (nerve desensitisation), dry needling, trigger balls and importantly, footwear. We refer direct for X-Ray, Ultrasound or MRI if further diagnostics are required.
