Swift is an advanced device that uses microwave energy delivered through a specialized handpiece to treat warts.
Warts are a virus and are contagious. They can spread to other areas of our body and from person to person. Warts on the foot, called plantar warts or verruca, can be difficult to treat especially in adults. They survive only in the outer layers of the skin where it is difficult for our body’s immune system to recognise. Warts on the foot often have callous overlying them, making them painful and unsightly.
Microwaves are a type of non-ionising radiation that do not harm DNA. They heat the wart tissue to temperatures between 42-45°C, causing infected cells to become stressed and emit signals that alert the immune system. This process helps the body recognise and eliminate the virally infected cells. The microwaves penetrate the skin to a specific depth without dispersing, preventing burns or damage to surrounding skin.
Clinical studies indicate that nearly 80% of patients see positive results, with many clinics reporting success rates over 95%.

Look After Your Feet!
Yes, you absolutely can. There will be minimal discomfort after the treatment and you can go about your day at work or school straight away.
Each Swift® treatment uses a single use tip. The cost of the treatment will be the standard consultation fee plus a $100 fee for the Swift Microwave single use head piece.
Patients report that mild discomfort caused by the treatment only lasts two seconds and dissipates instantly once the treatment is over. In some instances, it is not uncommon for a patient to feel a hot sharp sensation similar to an injection or sting. Microwaves produce dielectric heating and cause rapid temperature elevation in the tissue. This temperature sensation will vary from patient to patient, and the podiatrist will discuss the intensity before to make the treatment as comfortable as possible. Patients can return to normal daily activity after undergoing this pioneering therapy for verrucae.
There is no radiation or harmful rays.
Only a light debridement of the verruca is necessary to ensure a clean surface contact with the Swift® applicator. With other traditional treatments, heavy debridement is often necessary, which can cause discomfort for the patient.
After the first treatment, we usually recommend a second appointment one month later. Sometimes only one initial treatment is required and sometimes we need to do a second or third treatment at monthly intervals. For very long term and stubborn warts, more treatments may be required. The number of treatments can vary from case to case depending on the number of warts and the length of time they have been there. The sooner you seek Swift treatment, the easier it is to eradicate them.
